Frequently Asked Questions
About Triple Creeks
What does Triple Creeks Consulting actually do?
Triple Creeks Consulting guides organizations toward transformative, values-based success with practical solutions to common strategic & operational challenges. We help small businesses, non-profits, and startups build the internal systems, processes, and strategies they need to grow sustainably, without burning out.
We step in as operational specialists, strategic advisors, and sometimes as a fractional COO, depending on what your work actually needs right now (which we ask you a lot about, as we get to know you!) Think of us as the steady, experienced operational backbone your team might be missing. We also guide organizations through responsible AI and technology adoption, helping you integrate emerging tools without losing sight of your values.
What makes Triple Creeks Consulting different from other business consultants?
A few things set us apart:
- We’re deeply values-driven. We don’t just optimize for profit — we help you build organizations that are sustainable, equitable, and joyful to work in.
- We’re generalists in a lot of different operational and strategic processes, and, if needed are partnered with the specialists we need to cross the finish line with our projects. We come with a broad lens from many different sectors.
- We adapt to fit what you actually need right now, whether that’s a one-time project, ongoing support, or fractional leadership. We have worn many hats in any one org.
- Our clients consistently tell us the experience feels less like hiring a consultant and more like working with a trusted collaborator or neutral, caring friend, who’s genuinely invested in your success.
Do you work remotely, and can you work with organizations outside the US?
Yes — we work fully remotely from multiple time zones, which means we can work with you from anywhere. We’ve partnered with organizations across different regions and 6+ countries! As long as you have reliable internet access and a shared language to collaborate in (y, hablamos Español), geography is no barrier to working together.
Our Services
What services does Triple Creeks Consulting offer?
We offer three core service areas:
- Process Development & Operational Structuring – turning chaotic workflows into clear, repeatable systems
- Strategic Planning & Transitions – navigating growth, change, or big organizational pivots with confidence
- Financial Planning & Management – take the fear and chaos out of numbers and finance and understand how best to grow your financial support team
We also offer courses, coaching products, and — for the right fit — we step into a fractional COO role. All of our work is grounded in our values-based approach to creating a world where equitable, adaptable, and forward-thinking work cultures thrive by caring for their teams, navigating change with agility, and leaving the planet better than we found it.
What is a fractional COO, and do I need one?
A fractional COO is a Chief Operating Officer who works with your organization part-time or on a project basis, bringing the strategic and operational leadership of a senior executive without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire. If your organization is growing faster than your systems can keep up, or if you feel like you’re constantly putting out operational fires instead of working on your mission, a fractional COO can be a game-changer. We’ll tell you honestly in our Discovery Call whether that’s what you actually need, or whether a different kind of engagement would serve you better.
Can TCC help with AI and technology adoption?
Yes. Ethical AI strategy and adoption is one of the areas we’re most excited about. We help organizations evaluate, integrate, and use emerging tools like AI in ways that align with their values and actually improve how they work. This isn’t about chasing every shiny tech trend — it’s about asking which tools genuinely serve your team and your community, and implementing them thoughtfully. We’re especially focused on helping mission-driven and equity-centered organizations navigate this responsibly.
Who We Work With
Who do you typically work with?
We work with small businesses, non-profits, and startups — particularly those led by or serving systemically excluded professionals and communities. Our clients tend to be deeply purpose-driven organizations that are really good at their core work but are hitting operational growing pains. That might look like disorganized processes, unclear roles, financial uncertainty, a lack of systems for repetitive tasks, or a major change on the horizon (a new program, a leadership transition, a growth phase). If that’s where you are, let’s chat.
We're a non-profit. Can TCC really help us?
Absolutely — non-profit development is one of our core portfolio areas. We understand the unique structural, financial, and operational realities of the non-profit world: limited staff capacity, board governance, grant-driven budgeting, and the constant tension between sustainability and mission. We’ve helped organizations like the Global Climate & Health Alliance, Cold Climate Housing Research Center, Organic Growers School, Firefly Gathering, and the National Coalition for a Civil Right to Counsel rethink their operations, streamline their workflows, and build the internal capacity to serve more effectively.
We're an early-stage startup. Are we too small to work with TCC?
Not at all. Getting your operational foundation right early is one of the highest-leverage investments a startup can make. We work with impactful startups who want to build values-aligned businesses from the ground up — designing the processes, systems, and structures that will carry them through growth without creating chaos. If you’re a great idea that needs a stronger operational backbone, let’s talk.
I'm not sure our organization is "big enough" or "established enough" to need a consultant.
Size isn’t the threshold. The organizations that benefit most from our work aren’t always the biggest, they’re the ones where the gap between their vision and their operational reality is creating friction, stress, or stalled growth. We’ve worked with solo founders, two-person nonprofits, and growing teams of 20+. What matters isn’t your size; it’s whether you’re trying to build something sustainable and you’d benefit from experienced operational guidance to get there. If you’re asking the question, that’s usually a sign it’s worth a conversation.
My organization feels chaotic and I don't even know where to begin. Can you help?
We’re trained to walk into complexity and help you see it clearly. Before we sign a contract, we’ll help you identify what’s actually causing the bottlenecks — whether that’s unclear roles, broken workflows, financial uncertainty, or just too many things living in your head — and build a roadmap from there. You don’t need to have it figured out before you call us. That’s what we’re here for.
We're a small team wearing too many hats. We don't have the bandwidth to work with a consultant right now.
Of course, any meaningful change does require some of your attention and input, especially at the start. We’ll be upfront about what each phase of our work together involves and calibrate to your actual capacity. If the timing genuinely isn’t right, we’ll be able to tell you that too. It’s common for folks to reach out and have their initial calls with us, and not sign a contract until 6 months down the road.
Working Together
How do I get started with Triple Creeks Consulting?
The best first step is scheduling a Discovery Call with us. This is a no-pressure conversation where we learn about your organization, what you’re working through, and what kind of support might be most helpful. From there, we’ll share what we think makes sense and be honest if it seems like a mutually good fit. Often, it takes a few months for clients to be fully ready to sign with us after the Discovery Call, but don’t worry! We’ll keep circling back around. You can book a Discovery Call directly through our link on the Contact page.
How long does a typical engagement last?
It depends on the scope of your needs, but for a minimum of 3 months. Some clients come to us for a focused project with a tight turnaround time (like building out a financial planning system or facilitating a one-off strategy session) which might unfold over only a few months. Others engage us on an ongoing basis as a fractional COO or operational partner, and we have worked with some of our clients for many years. We always start with a Discovery Call to understand what you’re working toward, and from there we’ll recommend what length of engagement makes the most sense to meet your needs.
What should I expect once we start working together?
You can expect a collaborative, structured, and genuinely supportive experience. We begin by deeply understanding your context — your mission, your team, your current pain points. From there, we co-develop a plan that’s realistic and practical given your actual capacity. We don’t hand you our recommendations and disappear — we work alongside you, check in regularly, adapt as things evolve, hold loving accountability, and celebrate the wins with you. Clients often tell us they end up feeling more organized, calm, and confident in their operations while working with us.
Do you work with the whole team or just leadership?
It depends on the engagement, but often both. Some work happens primarily with founders, executive directors, or senior leadership especially in the beginning and around strategy, financial planning, and big-picture transitions. But operational changes usually touch the whole team, and we’re experienced at facilitating conversations, workshops, and change processes that bring everyone along. We’ll be clear about what each phase of our work together involves. Our recommended pricing and contract model will depend on the number of folks we’re working with regularly.
