Our (Free!) Tech Solutions

Our ‘tech stack’ means a lot to us. We believe strongly in accessible tech solutions to support small businesses and nonprofits, so we’ve chosen some of our most-used (and loved) business tech solutions to share with you.

These are our favorite tools because they help systematize and manage workflows so we and our clients can work more efficiently, and effectively.

We’re constantly amazed at how the introduction of some free (or very cheap) tools can streamline systems, promote growth, support business autonomy, assist with financial planning, encourage team convergence and free up time for a healthier work-life balance.

We’re all about finding the joy in our work and encourage you to do the same, so these handy tech solutions may be what you need!

Below you’ll find a table which should help you identify the tool you’re looking for. Just find the relevant ‘tech focus’ and then click on the link we’ve provided to our favorite tool so you can have a look around and get a feel for whether this is something that could serve you and your business. If you’re not sure about it, don’t worry, we have your back! We’ve also provided a variety of similar tools to help you find the right one for you.

Project/Task ManagementAsanaMonday.com, Notion, Hive, Basecamp, Trello, Smartsheet, Wrike, Jira, Clickup, Proofhub, Proprofs Project, nTask, SmartTask, Nifty, ScoroOur favorite task/project management tool. There’s a lot of competition out there, but in our opinion, Asana takes the cake both with what’s offered with their free subscription, and with the upgrades they offer for folks who want to pay a bit for some added bonuses. They’re always changing and very responsive to user needs and feedback, which we love!
Document Storage/Creation, E-mail ManagementGooglesuiteMicrosoft Office 365, Rackspace, Samepage, Bitrix24, Citrix Sharefile. We trust Google, for better or for worse, with A LOT of information - but it pays in easily to manage filing systems, calendars, and centralized communication. We LOVE the user interface, and find that you can get a lot done on their free version - plus, they even offer their Google Business Services free for non-profits.
International PaymentsRemitlyPayPal, Wise, PayoneerWe work with clients and Team Members on different continents, and sending money abroad is something we do often. We really like Remitly’s mission & values - they were founded by folks who wanted to send money to their family members abroad more easily and without hidden fees. We’ve found that their values translate into a great, low-cost option for sending money to most countries.
Online Course PublishingTeachableMighty Networks, Kajabi, Thinkific, Skillshare, Udemy, PodiaWe like using Teachable as an all-in-one platform to publish and sell our online courses. The best part is if you have a course that is less than 10 videos, hosting is free – they only take a minimal commission on each sale.
Bookkeeping/Financial TrackingWaveQuickBooks Desktop Pro, Freshbooks, G2 Deals, Quickbooks Online, Xero, GoDaddy Bookkeeping, Netsuite, HoneyBook, Stripe Billing, Zoho Books, ZipBooksAll things numbers! This platform is a great start for solopreneurs or businesses getting off the ground who don’t want to pay for bookkeeping or invoicing software. Can link directly with your bank accounts to keep track of business finances, even using the free version only! Please note it’s not available in all countries.
AutomationsZapierPabbly Connect, Microsoft Power Automate, Workato, IFTTTZapier has some great automation abilities, helping you create easy workflows (eg; if X happens, then Y happens) across multiple technology platforms. You can set up 10 for free, and then after that it’s a minimal charge per ‘zap.’
