Resilient Non-profit Development

We care about well paced, strategic, and organic growth for long lasting impact to empower non-profits to thrive.

Triple Creeks was first founded by Sera, a strategic planning consultant specializing in non-profit development. We work with our clients to:

  • Understand and deconstruct the systemic weaknesses of the philanthropic sector.
  • Provide the tools to build a non-profit structure that can bountifully serve both their communities and their team.
  • Build informed organizations and leaders that can withstand the harsh and unpredictable climate of our times.

“Triple Creeks Consulting has helped us integrate our core values with our non-profit structure, explore ideas with a practical lens, develop systems … and add clarity and transparency to our staff structure.”

Non-profit organizations are faced with countless systemic challenges from the get-go.

There is a substantial amount of idealism in the mainstream imagination when it comes to non-profits – and challenges baked into them that make a non-profit structure very challenging to run equitably. Here are some of the major ways the legal requirements, benefits, and beliefs around non-profit organizational structure contribute to continued inequities:

  • Non-profits are governed by largely volunteer boards – and as a result, they are not governed by the community they are serving.
  • Non-profits depend on funding from the philanthropic sector, where the flow of money is largely dictated by the beneficiaries of capitalism.
  • Becoming a non-profit is not the only way to effect positive change within a community, or have community-minded ideals nested into your work – and the idea that it is the only way is problematic!

“Triple Creeks has .. been able to adapt the cultural context of the organization … [our] work thus far has helped me build confidence in the work I am doing and be more effective and efficient in my role.”

We help non-profits to work strategically to tackle the common barriers they face.

We, as your strategic planning consultants (and beyond!) empower non-profits to tackle these things in their work. In fact, we’ve helped a lot of nonprofits address these systemic issues within their organizations with proper non-profit development techniques and a solid non-profit structure. As a result, the organizations we help build boast:

  • A diverse, well-rounded and committed audience, board and staff.
  • Well-rounded funding sources that prevent them from relying so heavily on the philanthropic sector.
  • Serving their intended communities bountifully from a place of being well-resourced themselves.

“TCC has made a tremendous difference by helping [us] organize and streamline our administrative and operational tasks and … really rethink our approach to our operations. They have guided me through a full review … and … identified ways to systematize the things we do repeatedly … I personally feel much more calm and on top of our operations now; and I look forward to bringing these ways of working to the rest of [our] team.”

Firefly Gathering was looking for support in applying for their 501(c)(3) non-profit status, including get their application together and forming their board and staff structures.

Through our work together, we have:

  • Shaped an annual event-based business into a registered non-profit organization that provides year-round educational services.
  • Designed & implemented structuring of internal documents & technology systems.
  • Crafted bylaws & structured the organization with an eye towards equity, compassion, & organizational values.

“Triple Consulting Creeks was instrumental in helping our organization build a solid foundation for our growing non-profit. As we transitioned from a once-a-year educational event to a year-round program, TCC has helped us integrate our core values with our business structure, explore ideas with a practical lens, develop systems that aid in communication and workflow, and add clarity and transparency to our staff structure. We appreciated that TCC was able to adapt their advice and support to meet our organization’s goals, values, and culture.”

Valley Camp Peru found Triple Creeks’ when they were beginning their journey as a registered nonprofit and Peruvian-based association, needing to balance the complexities of both designations and get their staff structure defined.

Through our work together, we have:

  • Designed & implemented structuring of internal documents & technology systems.
  • Structured the project’s internal management documents with an eye towards equity, compassion, & organizational values.
  • Visioned plans for organic growth & responsible expansion to best support the local community.

“My name is Cole and I am the founder and director of Valley Camp Peru, a non-profit organization based in Cuzco, Peru that supports youth development in the region. I am incredibly grateful for my time working with Sera and the Triple Creeks team. They have helped me create new systems to improve the workflow of the organization. Additionally, they’ve supported me with preparing and running board meetings. Living and working in a foreign country, Triple Creeks has also been able to adapt the cultural context of the organization. All of the work thus far has helped me build confidence in the work I am doing and be more effective and efficient in my role. I look forward to continuing to work with Triple Creeks and highly recommend them for other nonprofits and small businesses.”

Jeni, a ten-year ED of GCHA sought support in strengthening their internal operations and building the foundation for an effective strategic planning process. They needed a partner who could assess current workflows and operational gaps that needed filling in order to prepare the organization—operationally and relationally—for a strategic planning process.

Through our work together, we have:

  • Conducted a thorough operational assessment to identify workflow “hot spots” and build internal capacity.
  • Facilitated clarification of organizational priorities regarding technology and operational needs.
  • Organized a week-long “Systems Focus” week to introduce the staff to new initiatives and center team working time around organizational systems design.
  • Planted seeds for a strategic planning process centered around stakeholder and partner input.

“TCC has made a tremendous difference by helping GCHA organize and streamline our administrative and operational tasks and quite frankly, really rethink our approach to our operations. They have guided me through a full review of our operations, and step by step identified ways to systematize the things we do repeatedly, streamline things that can be simpler, and establish clearer roles and responsibilities that support better ways of working together. I personally feel much more calm and on top of our operations now; and I look forward to bringing these ways of working to the rest of the GCHA team.”

Civil Justice ⚖️

NCCRC, a project of the Public Justice Center, sought a strategic consultant to strengthen its internal operations and long-term decision making. The projectneeded greater clarity on staff roles, decision-making structures, and values alignment. They came to us requesting help articulating their core identity, aligning internally, and building the infrastructure to support growth, remote collaboration, and meaningful engagement with its network.

Through our work together, we have:

  • Facilitated a four-phase strategic planning and operations engagement that blended values-based strategy, staff development, and systems design.
  • Conducted deep discovery sessions, stakeholder surveys, and coaching to clarify NCCRC’s Theory of Change and internal values.
  • Developed role-specific workplans, a decision-making framework, SOP audits, and an organizational chart to support operations and accountability.
  • Hosted executive coaching sessions and team trainings focused on interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and organizational wellness.
  • Embedded capacity-building and equity-informed practices tailored to NCCRC’s evolving needs and team culture.

“Triple Creeks was an excellent team to work with as we engaged in strategic planning and reviewed/adjusted our internal operations. Sera was patient, direct, and focused on delivering results at each phase of the process. She is skilled at facilitating productive conversations about overarching agreements, philosophy, and overall project direction, as well as identifying solutions to bottlenecks in team operations.”

Hi, I’m Ana. I support teams and individuals by bringing clarity, structure, and steadiness to the work that happens behind the scenes.

At Triple Creeks Consulting, I support the content and marketing side of the work, helping shape written and visual materials so ideas can be shared clearly, thoughtfully, and with care. I enjoy working with creative pieces as they move from early drafts into something ready to be seen and received.

I’m naturally curious and enjoy learning, especially when it helps me work with more ease and intention. For me, learning doesn’t really have an endpoint. What I know now feels like a small starting place and there’s still so much left to explore. And just thinking about that genuinely excites me.
