Language and Branding — Expressing our Values through Conscious Marketing

LANGUAGE MATTERS

When we say the word “lake” in English, we’re just describing the surface of the water. But when we say the Cherokee word for Lake, “adonwhe”, we describe its contents all the way to the bottom.

We have regular language, phrases & imagery we use a lot throughout our work, for a reason. Thanks to our work with Ardea Creative, our brand has truly come to life and our understanding of the importance of our public expression is more acute than ever.

We’re also warming up to the idea that what we bring is a gift to this world, and doesn’t need to be associated with the capitalist mentality of selling someone a service they don’t need. Ultimately, we feel that effective public expression of our work allows us to serve:

  • Consciously with support from communal accountability
  • Widely with broadening our networks and knowledge
  • Intimately by increasing our vulnerability and human connection
Here’s some of the reasons why we pick the words we use and why we choose to represent ourselves in the ways that we do:

BRANDING

The name and imagery of Triple Creeks is inspired by a small corner of land in Western North Carolina, that has a place where three creeks come together. This land is called Triple Creeks Convergence, a peaceful coming together to create something beautiful. In the same way, our consulting work also embodies this convergence; one of values, realities, and revolutionaries.

We chose our nature-based imagery as a reflection of this place, and as our ‘pinky-promise’ to work as hard as we can to leave the planet better (and greener) than we found it.

We also know everything we do is a magical process, so we have ✨all over the place and regular references to some of our favorite fairy tales.

OUR SERVICES

Our Services and their related pricing is based on what is called a “Good/Better/Best” Pricing Model that allows for client ‘choice’ in service tier, while simultaneously whispering “More things come with more money!”

At Triple Creeks, we:

  •  Are committed to having a lasting impact;
  • Don’t like hierarchy; and
  • Don’t believe money can buy satisfaction.

So, instead of “Good/Better/Best”, we present our services as 3 interchangeable stages – SEED, ROOT & HARVEST. Qualitatively the same and adaptable to client needs, the stages also provide sliding scale options. Our client-facing visual model that describes each service is intended as a fun, user-friendly illustration that is always changing with feedback.

PARTNERS

We believe in collective effort and the power of teamwork, so we shamelessly work with other people and their organizations as partners. ‘Partner’ isn’t defined in the traditional sense. These are our Partners of thought, work, and vision for a more expansive future. Get excited! You might meet any of them when you work with us.

SYSTEMS

This is probably one of the broadest words we use regularly. And it can be specific, too. Sometimes we’re talking about big systems: things like gravity, patriarchy, or white supremacy. Sometimes, we’re talking about little systems: things like user-friendly technology solutions, human-centered work policies, and standard operating procedures. We believe everything, when you break it down far enough or build it up big enough, is a system.

TEAM

Teams are everything to us. We believe that the ‘pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps’ attitude of a lot of business coaches’ marketing is not only harmful and inaccurate, but also leaves entrepreneurship feeling cut-throat and individualistic, especially in the start-up phases. When you work with Triple Creeks, you’re getting a bigger Team to support you in your work, allowing you to focus on the parts that bring you the most joy of running your project.

WORKFLOWS

Triple Creeks encompasses something bigger than itself; this is how our partners come in. We bring these brilliant folks together as co-consultants, resource partners, and implementers. Get excited – you might be connected with these amazing people and their projects during your work with us. If you’re excited to dive in – book a free Discovery call with us
